An excursion to Essaouira from Marrakech is a fantastic way to experience the charm of this coastal town. Essaouira, located about 180 kilometers (112 miles) west of Marrakech, offers a refreshing change of pace with its relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and historical sites. Here’s our one-day excursion to Essaouira from Marrakech:

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel/riad in Marrakech early morning. On the way you will enjoy a scenic drive through the Moroccan countryside, with its argan tree forests and occasional goat herds climbing the trees.

A long the way, you’ll likely pass through an argan oil cooperative. Consider stopping to see how the precious argan oil is produced, and you might have the chance to purchase some authentic products.

Once you arrive in Essaouira, head straight to the medina (old town). The medina is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is known for its well-preserved, white-washed buildings, blue doors, and narrow winding streets, walk along the fortified walls of Skala de la Ville, which offer stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the picturesque harbor the pass by  the lively Moulay Hassan Square, a vibrant area with cafes and shops, and a popular spot for watching local activities.

Lunch option:

Seafood Lunch: Essaouira is renowned for its delicious seafood. Take the opportunity to savor a fresh seafood lunch at one of the many restaurants near the harbor.

After lunch relax at Essaouira Beach: Spend some time unwinding at the sandy Essaouira beach. The coastal breeze makes it an ideal spot for relaxation and water sports like windsurfing, then  Take a walk to the picturesque harbor, where you can see local fishermen at work and colorful boats floating in the water.

Optional Activities: Depending on your interests and available time, you can engage in various optional activities such as visiting art galleries, taking a camel ride on the beach or quad adventure.
